Support Military Working Dogs

Help support Military Working Dogs Project:

A project to provide cooly vests, mukluks, doggles and a toy to the working military dogs that protect our troops.

How did the idea for this project
come about?

Starline Nunley, a member of the Gem City Dog Obedience Club, started with the idea of helping her son, Major Parker Frawley, who is a Longbow, Apache helicopter fighter pilot stationed in Iraq. She asked him if he would like a Cooling Vest to help him cope with the typically very hot temperatures encountered there. His reply was “Mom, I am and we (soldiers) are all right. The military provides for us very well, but dogs have different needs. It is so hot that they are having trouble doing their job and that puts us all in danger.”

I'm supporting World Water Day by Starbucks

Thousands of people have made plans to participate in events happening across North America on Saturday March 22, 2008 to raise awareness of the world water crisis! I had never really stopped to think about how different from my water bottle carrying life and how hard the process is for some people to get a simple drink of water.  I am so thankful for the life style we are able to lead in America.

Since there isn't a walk in my city, I joined as a virtual walker.  My name will be carried in a water jug by someone who is actually walking.  At least I can be there in spirit.  I have added a link for you if you would like more information, or to join the walk.

Velvet Flowers

  I ordered these VELVET flowers from the Maya Road Winter CHA release.  Aren't they CUTE!! Can't wait to add them to the store.

I also ordered their new SHEER books, velvet ribbon, BIRD shaped chipboard and Bird shaped Chipboard books, buttons, SHEER  RIBBON - it's cool, 5 tab ring books, Calendar books,  ohh and so much more!

I'll be sure to let you know as the orders from CHA start arriving.  Ugh, the anticipation is so hard to bear!

P.S.  CHA stands for Craft & Hobby Association.  They have two retail shows a year, they are huge shows and most of the craft supply companies come out with new lines to preview at the CHA show in Winter and Summer.

Claudine Hellmuth Collage Discovery Workshop

Like so many others, I buy really cool books from great artist with wonderful techniques in them, thumb through it, put it aside, and buy another one!  My intent really is to learn from them and make cool projects like they have in the book.  But, alas I am a book junkie and can't keep up with all the projects in all the books. 

HOWEVER, I have made a commitment to work through some of those fabulous books with fabulous techniques!  We are going to start with Claudine Hellmuth's "Collage Discovery Workshop" book.  There will be a new lesson every two weeks where we will work through 2 to 4 different techniques, and make one project with our favorite technique of that lesson.  We have one group that is just posting their lessons and one group that is doing a Round Robin with their lessons.  I am really excited about actually using one of the  great books I have.  Yipppeee!

We are doing the lesson on our yahoo group Treasurearttrends.  Want to join us?   There is a link at the top right of the blog if you do!  The first lesson is due on the 8th.  You will need to have the book or have access to the book, I am not posting the exact directions or pictures as that would be a copyright violation.  Don't want to go there.

Yippee, Skippy!  I am so excited!  Gillian Allen of Art-e-zine  asked to use my CD Folders mini album and Library Pocket mini albums on her site!  I'm also VERY honored!  I love the marvelous artists on her site and VERY often go there for ideas and inspiration.  I was trying to go for a 7gypsies look with this mini ablum.
